Roundabout Madness

It would seem that if you go to university you may acquire a Degree in Engineering which allows you to design roads etc. however at the same time you relinquish your right to “common sense”.

I have been to Main Roads to discuss my problem. They say politicians tell them what to do. I go to the politicians and they say: “go back to MRD”! So fat lot of good that did me.

I’m talking about two things: arrows on the roads, and not being able to use the outside lane to get to where I want to go.

For example we come up North Road approaching the roundabout with a wish to exit in either Albany Highway north or the Denmark Road. According to the signs one must be in the inside lane. On approaching there is an arrow pointing right. Why I don’t know, you cannot turn right, you must turn left. It infuriates me to see drivers put on their right flicker then turn left. Please explain?

The outer arrow says you may go straight ahead. If you do you will end up in the garden! Please explain (an engineer with a degree designed this).

Whilst sitting in the inside lane in a lot of traffic the outside lane is usually empty. If you use that empty lane it will cost you $100 fine to get to Denmark road or Albany Highway north if you get caught.

From the inside lane to get on the Denmark Road it is necessary to change lanes causing a hazard – unnecessary if one was permitted to go from North Road to use the outside lane! I hope I haven’t confused you as I haven’t been to university and still have my common sense.

Censorship and free speech

Years ago we had the Censorship Board to determine what we could and couldn’t read and see on TV based on morality and obscenity.

Today we have turned back to those days with Facebook and YouTube, deciding what we can read, say or hear – they are the new Censorship Board.

They will determine how you will be allowed to think. If what they determine is not what they agree with they will shut you down as they have done with Sky News.

What are they afraid of? If, as they say, Sky News is spreading false information then why don’t they take Sky News to court and lay charges against them?

Remember the Thalidamide story? The drug companies said it was safe and the governments of the day trusting relevant health authorities approved its use. Only one woman in the FDA in the USA said she wanted more testing before she would approve it. Even though she was pressured she resisted and refused to approve it. In time she was proven right – with JK Kennedy giving her a prestigious award.

What is happening with Facebook and YouTube is nothing less than what the Nazis did: stifle free speech and free information.

Today we do not have a government that leads but we have a government that is led around by un-elected persons.

In the words of Thomas Jefferson: “when the people fear the Government there is tyranny but when the Government fears the people there is liberty”

Today we have the Government taking away our freedom and the media prefers to destroy our right to information. What we do with the information is our choice but we nevertheless need freedom of information to make an informed decision.

Face Mask Sceptic

The wearing of face masks to prevent being infected by COVID-19 is a nonsense.

The proof is this rather coarse analogy – when you pass wind a miasma of micro poo particles is released into the atmosphere as an aerosol and it does not take long for you to smell the result when you and others breathe in these poo particles. Your poo particles (molecules) which are many times larger than a virus have passed through your underpants, your outer clothing and your mask. So if an infected person were to breathe out, cough, or sneeze the virus as an aerosol would just breeze through their mask and be breathed in through the masks of others nearby with the greatest of ease. All the mask does is prevent people from spitting on each other.

It is not clear why the psycho-babbalists/health experts have sold our leaders the idea that wearing masks is essential to controlling the “virus”. Do they think perhaps, that by forcing the wearing of this useless symbol of safety the leaders will be able to subjugate people into just asking, “how high?”, every time Dear Leader says “jump”?

Dangerously it gives people a false sense of invulnerability to the virus.

Why fellow scientists have said so little on this aspect of the pandemic control confounds me.

Bev Hall, Narrikup.
