Albany Detectives are investigating a serious incident that allegedly took place in the early hours of the morning on Sunday July 18.

At around 1.20am, a large altercation near a nightclub on Stirling Terrace is believed to have resulted in the life-threatening and serious injury of a 24-year-old man.

The victim was allegedly struck on the side of the head with a sharp weapon and later by a vehicle. The vehicle was not present when police attended.

The victim was initially taken to Albany Hospital and later flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

The vehicle involved in the incident has since been located and a man in his 20s is in custody and co-operating with detectives.
