IF YOU take the scenic drive through Broomehill and Gnowangerup from Great Southern Highway, you may spot some new additions to the roadside that will make you want to stop and stare.
The new Horsepower Highway is a scenic drive showcasing the best of the Great Southern’s old tractors and was put together by the team at GNP 360 to revitalise the town and bring in tourists.
Visitors can also access the Horsepower Highway Map, an interactive Google Map with details about all the tractors, their names, locations, photos and information.
GNP360 Secretary Cassandra Beeck said the tractors are just sitting there as a highlight amongst beautiful scenery.
“It’s just a little way of making a drive interesting for people,” she said.
“People are putting tractors, with our help with design of where they should go along the highway, in their paddocks.”
One tractor that GNP 360 anticipate will bring interest is an old tractor named Clancy, dubbed the Old Man of the Stirling.
Clancy, along with other tractors, have had Lucinda’s everlasting flowers planted around it in commemoration to a local Kojonup lady who advocates for rural woman’s health and breast cancer awareness.
The Highway is just one project GNP 360 has been working on to bring an interesting perspective and life to Gnowangerup.
